The Colorado Avalanche will travel to Chicago to meet the Blackhawks for the first time this season. In past seasons, Chicago has always been a win on the calendar. That may not be the case this year. Goaltender Spencer Knight has been playing well with his 7–4–3 record and .922 save percentage. Conor Bedard has really blossomed as a player in the NHL, sitting in the top five in points. This may turn into an interesting game with the way the two teams played in their recent games.

Colorado Avalanche (15–1–5 35pts)

The Avalanche had a horrible game despite a great start from defenseman Brent Burns. The 40-year-old scored within 15 seconds, and the Avs were struggling to play at the Predators’ pace. Nashville, following six days off, dominated the Avalanche throughout the contest. Mackenzie Blackwood, playing in his fourth game of the season, was spectacular. Earning his first shutout of the season while making 35 saves. Blackwood was looking a lot like his old self after recovering from an injury all season.

Chicago Blackhawks (10–7–4 24pts)

The Blackhawks had a rough one against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night, losing 9–3. The Blackhawks’ starting goaltender Spencer Knight needed the night off, so Arvid Soderblom took the reins. Buffalo ruled the game in every way. As Matt Csakai from the The-Rink.com said, “The Blackhawks looked gassed, outmatched and generally outclassed by the Sabres, who were able to skate circles around this team.” He allowed nine goals in 30 shots on goal, with multiple goals coming from Josh Doan. Chicago has multiple injuries in the way of Nick Foligno and Andre Burakovsky. Both of the forwards provide the Blackhawks with their veteran presence and ability to rush the net. NHL star Connor Bedard is third in the league in scoring with 31 points (13g/18a).
