The Colorado Avalanche put up a touchdown on the St. Louis Blues with a dominant 6–1 win. They capped off 2025 in spectacular fashion with the victory.
Almost every player was perfect on the ice, and Ball Arena was buzzing all night long. The Avs stay undefeated in regulation on home ice and keep buzzing atop the division and the league.

The game was basically over before it even started. Four goals in 4:39 is the fastest the team has scored four goals in franchise history. It doesn’t even include a disallowed goal when Cale Makar shot one down low, ruled out for goaltender interference. Two goals from Nathan MacKinnon and a Valeri Nichushkin hat trick did just that, along with a Brock Nelson power play goal.

A big talking point coming into the game was Team Canada’s Olympic team. The team chose Devon Toews but did not select Scott Wedgewood and Mackenzie Blackwood. The latter of the two went up against their pick, Jordan Binnington. Blackwood and the team made a statement with the win. The Avs’ goaltenders could still be replacements if needed, but tonight they certainly made a statement against Canada’s starter.

As the calendar flips to 2026, the historic start for the Avalanche just keeps on rolling. A 30th win is put on the board in the season. They still have only two regulation losses this season. In even better news, the Buffalo Sabres won their 10th straight game against the Dallas Stars. The Central Division lead extends, making it a near-perfect end to the year. They ended up outshooting St. Louis 43–13.
