Logan O’Connor has been a continued presence in an ever-changing lineup for the Colorado Avalanche. Yet, he is also persistent and battling through it all.
LOC has gone through yet another hip surgery in the offseason. It’s now his second one in two years. It’s unknown whether or not the procedure was done on the same hip.
Avalanche forward Logan O’Connor underwent successful hip surgery this morning (Friday, June 6). The procedure was performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery) in New York City. He is expected to be out 5-6 months.

The concern for O’Connor will be whether or not it is an issue that keeps on nagging him. If it becomes something similar to Miles Wood’s persistent back issues, it could be detrimental moving forward for the Mayor of Denver.
The craziest thing about LOC the last two years is how great he’s been while battling this hip injury. He came back early from his first hip surgery last season and was exceptional, particularly in the postseason.
He had 10 goals and 11 assists in the regular season. Furthermore, he led the Avs in playoff points for the majority of their series against the Dallas Stars. He ended with two goals and four assists.

With his most recent surgery, O’Connor will be out for up to six months. He is currently projected to return sometime between November and December.
Before his first hip surgery, he was having a career year with 26 points in 57 games. But this previous year was certainly a step back in terms of production.
He will likely miss games to start the season unless he returns early once again. Once he does return, he would likely need some time to get back into game speed and shape. And it just might be another step back in production.

If he can persevere through the injury and get enough ice time, another similar season, around 20 points, will suffice. But we’ll never really know until Logan O’Connor does make it back on the ice post-procedure.
