It’s been a while since the last edition of predicting the record for the upcoming 2025-26 season for the Colorado Avalanche. For a refresher, in this prediction, their last game against the New York Rangers was their fourth win in a row.
Therefore, heading into this third edition, Colorado sits at 13-5-2 and on an eight-game point streak. Does it continue heading into the holiday season here in this prediction?
November 22 at Nashville Predators (13-5-2)
The first game of the year against an in-division rival in the Nashville Predators, comes on the road. Colorado has had their issues against the Preds, and coming in on a hot streak, it could spell trouble. Therefore, I can see them taking at least a point but nothing more than that in an OT loss.
November 23 at Chicago Blackhawks (13-5-3)
For some reason, Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks always seem to be kryptonite for the Avalanche at least a couple of times a season. Despite this being the first time they match up in this prediction, I think Colorado suffers a rough defeat to Chicago, as they usually do in the season.
November 26 vs. San Jose Sharks (13-6-3)
San Jose’s first visit to Ball Arena comes right before Thanksgiving. Colorado’s used to hosting home events right before the holiday and has usually been successful. They’ll continue the same trend, rebounding after their bad loss to the Hawks.
November 28 at Minnesota Wild (14-6-3)
Another divisional matchup in this stretch at Minnesota is a matinee affair. The Avalanche have had issues in afternoon games, as mentioned before. Traveling during the holiday, I could see this game also turning into a loss.
November 29 vs. Montreal Canadiens (14-7-3)
Another afternoon matchup follows up the loss to the Wild the previous day. The second back-to-back to feature in this stretch does come against a formidable opponent on the up-and-up with the Habs.
Plus, the Canadiens have found wins in their last two visits to Ball Arena. Even with Colorado having success on the second legs of back-to-backs, I think the Habs come out with a third straight win in Denver.
December 2 vs. Vancouver Canucks (14-8-3)
On a cold streak as the calendar turns to December in this prediction, the Vancouver Canucks come to town. Of course, the conversation will turn to Quinn Hughes versus Cale Makar and who the better defender is.
Another bold prediction I’ll make in this series is Makar being outscored by Hughes. But even then, the rest of the team around Makar will pick up the scraps and somehow scrape out a much-needed win.
There is only one Cale Makar!

December 4 at New York Islanders (15-8-3)
The Avalanche heads out East for a four-game road trip and finally gets some consistent playing time and breaks. With games almost every other day, it should help them find some form.
Colorado took the reverse matchup in Denver just a few weeks before. Even with Patrick Roy coaching at home, perhaps with former Av Cal Ritchie, I think they do the same as they did in Ball Arena with the victory.
December 6 at New York Rangers (16-8-3)
Colorado went into Madison Square Garden last year with turmoil after trading Mikko Rantanen for Martin Necas and Jack Drury. Drury recorded his first point in the game, and Artturi Lehkonen stole the win in the dying seconds of regulation.
New York has fallen off as a competitor in the Eastern Conference and lost in Denver earlier in the year. Therefore, I think the same fate lies ahead for them as Colorado gets a second straight win.

December 7 at Philadelphia Flyers (17-8-3)
The third back-to-back in this 10-game stretch might make the Avalanche go crazy. This might also be because they dropped both games of the back-to-back in this stretch.
Colorado finally took the first leg the previous day against the Rangers in this prediction. But I think it’ll be all they get as it becomes too much in this stretch of games, and they’ll fall to the Flyers in overtime.
December 9 at Nashville Predators (17-8-4)
Just as this article started, it ends with another game at the Bridgestone Arena against the Predators. Nashville took the earlier game in overtime, and I think this one has the exact same fate ahead for the Avalanche.
After heading into this 10-game stretch hot, Colorado cools down in this prediction. The Avs usually have a cool stretch in the wintertime, and it happens here. In this 10-game prediction, they go 4-3-3, ending with a 17-8-5 record.
