DENVER — The Colorado Avalanche will be coming into today’s game with a dramatically different looking lineup than their last game. Recent acquisitions Brock Nelson and Charlie Coyle will be looking to make their Avalanche debuts and maybe we will see the return of fan-favorite Erik Johnson. Colorado last played the San Jose Sharks and flew past them with little effort in their 7–3 victory. The Toronto Maple Leafs made a splash yesterday by landing defenseman Brandon Carlo, a long sought after blue liner by the Avalanche.
Tonight, the current wild card Avalanche will battle the second place Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada. Colorado will look to continue their four-game win streak while the Leafs look to recover from the Vegas flu.
Colorado Avalanche (37-24-2) Previous Game
The Colorado Avalanche welcomed Alexandar Georgiev and the San Jose Sharks to town but not give him the best of homecomings. Cale Makar racked up the points as he had two goals and four assist for a record setting night. He was the first defenseman to have a six-point night since Paul Coffey on March 14, 1986.
Nathan MacKinnon set himself for a chance to break the 1,000 career point mark tonight by having a five-point night against the Sharks.
Martin Necas continued to show his worth as he contributed a goal in the victory and Josh Manson returned to the fold after being out for a month.
