The Colorado Avalanche look to start a new home win-streak on Friday against the Nashville Predators. Colorado had its 17-game home winning streak snapped by the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier in the week. Meanwhile, the Predators have won back-to-back games against Edmonton and Washington. The Avalanche may have to do it without another player as Ross Colton did not take part in practice on Thursday. Ivan Ivan was recalled just before the morning skate began to fill the fourth line gap. There is a possibility of one more call-up if Colton is not able to play tonight.

Colorado Avalanche (33–4–8, 74 pts)

The Avalanche are coming off a break where they have not played a game since Monday night. They played the Toronto Maple Leafs, who took the Avs to overtime and won 4–3. The beginning involved a deflected shot, which entered the net, courtesy of Brent Burns’ foot. Cale Makar and Brock Nelson answered back with two goals for the Avs, with Nelson’s on the power play. Yet, Bobby McMann advanced from the faceoff, scoring past the defense, shifting the advantage to Toronto. Auston Matthews put the Leafs in front halfway through the third, but Martin Necas to tied the game late. A turnover in overtime would cost the Avs the victory.

The Predators were able to push the second-place Edmonton Oilers into a back-and-forth overtime brawl. After their 4-3 OT win, they are heading to Denver with only one day of rest. The game saw two players with two goals each: Zach Hyman and Roman Josi. The Preds captain had the game-winner in overtime with his seventh of the season.
