DENVER, Colo. — Saturday afternoon brings about a good matinee matchup. The Colorado Avalanche host the roaring St. Louis Blues in another big Central Division rivalry matchup.
This will be the third game of the season between these two, plus one more coming in early April. St. Louis took care of things with three unanswered goals to win 3-1 last time out at the Enterprise Center. They’ll look for a repeat effort at Ball Arena.
Colorado Avalanche (45-25-3)
The Avs continue their own hot streak, having won four straight games. Most recently, it might’ve been their best all-around game of the season against the Los Angeles Kings in a dominant 4-0 showing on Thursday night.
Colorado has continued showing their stuff, going 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. Even the two losses they had against the Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs in that same stretch could’ve gone their way.
Martin Necas recorded a three-point night against the Kings on Thursday. Both Jonathan Drouin and Cale Makar had two points themselves. Mackenzie Blacklwood was credited with the 22-save shutout. This was all on an “off-night” for Nathan MacKinnon, who only recorded an assist. Can they all combine to keep things rolling?

St. Louis Blues (39-28-7)
The Blues have propelled themselves right into the running for the second wild-card spot. It all comes amidst a dominant eight-game winning streak. Most recently, they beat the Nashville Predators 3-2, which eliminated the Preds from playoff contention.
This will be the second of a short two-game road trip for the Blues as they look to continue their own win streak and stop the Avs’ streak. They’ll need every point they can get, as they are four points ahead of the Vancouver Canucks for the final spot.
St. Louis has been led by new head coach Jim Montgomery and three high-scorers. Robert Thomas has 66 points in 62 games. Jordan Kyrou and first-year Blue Dylan Holloway both have 62 points in 74 games. Can those three find their way around the Avalanche and make it nine wins in a row?
