The Colorado Avalanche will attempt to recover from a two-game losing streak against the Washington Capitals on Monday. Not very much pleased head coach Jared Bednar on Friday for the Avalanche, so fans will have to see if he will make any lineup adjustments. After a blowout by Florida, Washington will have to do the same. Ivan Ivan has once again been the recall to fill the gaps on the fourth-line for the Avs as they push through the injuries.

Colorado Avalanche (33–5–8, 74 pts)
The Avalanche played a horrible game on Friday against the Nashville Predators, losing their first game in regulation on home ice. The Preds got the game rolling only 30 seconds into the game with Ryan O’Reilly’s goal. He would eventually score a hat trick against his former team in the win against the Avs. Brock Nelson tried to pull Colorado back into the game, but he could not do it alone. He has had three multi-goal games in the last seven games. Martin Necas added a goal for the Avs, but the Preds were too much for them. Goals by Michael Bunting and Filip Forsberg solidified the lead for the Preds, and two empty-net goals were the dagger to the chest. Not only was it the first home regulation loss, it was the most goals that the Avs have allowed all season, losing 7–3.

Washington Capitals (24–19–6, 54 pts)
The Capitals are also on a two-game losing streak, like the Avalanche. They last played the Florida Panthers and lost 5–2 before heading onto the road. Former Avalanche A.J. Greer opened the scoring and ended the game with a goal and an assist. Only Jakob Chychrun would compete from the Capitals. He had two goals unanswered, but then Florida fought back with four goals of their own. Chychrun now has three multi-goal games this season so far. Washington now sits just three points shy of a Wild Card spot behind the Buffalo Sabres.
