The Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings will meet for the second time this season on Monday night. The first time ended in a 4β1 victory on opening night for the Avs. Nathan MacKinnon also set the franchise record for all-time points as an Avalanche in the contest. Colorado will look to clean up its game against LA after they had to claw back in Vegas on Saturday night. So there may be a mix-up in the lines a little to force some consistency and extend their win streak to eight games.
Colorado Avalanche (28β2β7, 63 pts)
The Avalanche extended their win-streak to seven games on Saturday night with a shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights started the game with the first two goals of the game. Colorado fought back to tie it with the help of Samuel Girard and Martin Necas. Girard, with his third goal of the season, is on a two-game goal streak. Though the lead diminished, Vegas responded with consecutive goals in under thirty seconds. In the third, Colorado tallied three goals, causing overtime and a shootout. Necas and Nathan MacKinnon were the only Avalanche shooters to find the back of the net. The Avalanche remains the only team in the NHL sporting just two regulation losses.

Los Angeles Kings (16β12β9, 41 pts)
The Kings battled the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night and blew them out of the sky with a 6β1 victory. It was all Kings throughout the entire game. Los Angeles had four different goal scorers in the first period alone, including former DU Pioneer Trevor Moore. Mason McTavish scored the only goal for the Ducks in the game during the second period, while Alex Laferriere tacked on two more for the Kings in the third. Goaltender and former Avalanche Darcy Kuemper has been out of the lineup since December 16, when Mikko Rantanen ran into him in the crease. On Sunday, Kuemper skated, but he will probably not play against his former team on Monday night.
