SAN DIEGO, Calif. ––The Colorado Eagles compete against the San Diego Gulls (ANA) to pick up the final two points on the table to conclude their six-game road trip. The team claimed a dramatic 3–1 victory last night, which set the scene for another successful showing.
The team emerged victorious in a 3–0 bout, outshooting the Gulls 34–15. With the victory in the books, Colorado collected nine of 12 potential points.
Takeaways
T.J. Tynan abruptly left last night’s game with no word of injury or expected return. He missed the second leg of the San Diego trip, and later, the team announced the forward was out with a lower-body injury from a skate cut. His absence, like last night, was noticeable as the team lacked his usual grit.
Road-weary, the team showed it. The team’s second game showed significantly less energy compared to their previous game.
The Eagles struggled to light the lamp early on. By the end of the second period, the Eagles held the Gulls to only single-digit shots on goal, while the visiting Colorado team more than doubled that number without scoring.
Finally, Jacob MacDonald brought some reprieve after he threw a puck toward the net and scored on a ricochet with eleven seconds to go to close out the second.

Joining him in the scoring is Jayson Megna, while shorthanded, who also picked up a pair of goals last night. Chris Wagner also found the back of the net, extending his point streak to eight.
Historically, Colorado has been successful on the power play at the NHL and AHL level. However, the team struggled in this series. They had no success on three attempts last night, followed by two unsuccessful attempts in the rematch.
Luck favored Colorado as the Coachella Valley Firebirds (SEA) lost to the Henderson Silver Knights (VGK), increasing the gap in standings and elevating the Eagles to third in the league.
