The Colorado Avalanche will battle the St. Louis Blues for their first Division Rivalry Night on Saturday. Both teams are coming off four-goal wins. One is a little more dramatic than the other. It will be the first of four meetings between the two teams this season. Zachary L’Heureux could be an option for the Avs, but they will have to see how he feels after the morning skate. With the Blues retooling over the summer, there will be a lot to look out for. They claimed former Avalanche Justin Barron on waivers and signed Mason McTavish over the summer. With the Blues coming off a back-to-back, Jordan Binnington will probably get the start for the Blues, which always makes for an exciting game.

Colorado Avalanche (1–0–0)

The Avs opened the season with a bang. They doubled up the Los Angeles Kings at Ball Arena with an 8–4 victory. A lot of fun things happened during the win. Artturi Lehkonen had a pair of power-play goals besides Nathan MacKinnon having a pair of goals. Parker Kelly picked up right where he left off, almost scoring a shorthanded goal. Brock Nelson and Gabriel Landeskog even got in on the fun, too. They each had a goal, while Cale Makar had two assists. The Avs even converted on the power play, scoring on four out of five chances for the night.

St. Louis Blues (1–0–0)

The Blues battled the Dallas Stars on Friday night to open their season on the road for a 4–0 win. It did not take long for Mason McTavish, new to the Blues, to get comfortable with the team. The center took only 1:34 into the game to score his first goal. Both Jimmy Snuggerud and Pius Suter ended the night with a goal and an assist each after hitting empty nets. But Brandon Carlo became the story early in the third period, as he ran at Roope Hintz with his knee. Hintz briefly left the game but would return. Carlo, on the other hand, received a five-minute major and a 10-minute game misconduct penalty. Carlo may get a call from the league on this one.
