CALGARY, Alberta —The Colorado Avalanche are hoping to solidify their spot in the Central Division tonight over the Calgary Flames. Both teams look to recover from shootout losses in their last games Calgary is on the outside looking in at the moment at and lost a few key players in Mikael Backlund because of injury and Connor Zary because of suspension. Nathan MacKinnon has scored 11 points in last five games and would to add to the tally.
Colorado Avalanche (39-24-3) Previous Game
The Avalanche went in to Saint Paul, hoping to gain some ground against the Minnesota Wild. Colorado Was on the second half of their back-to-back with travel. Colorado started out energized, but it trailed off as the game went along. Joel Kiviranta was the only Avalanche player to see the back of the net. He now has goals in four straight games for a career high of 15 this season (previous was eight in 2022-23). The Avalanche fell 2–1 in a shootout as they could not convert on any shots.

Calgary Flames (30-23-11) Previous Game
The Flames had a crazy game as well against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday. It saw the return of Quinn Hughes for the for the first time in almost two weeks. The Flames and Canucks alternated scoring throughout the game with Jonathan Huberdeau netting two goals and Nazem Kadri getting one of his own. The game eventually went to a shootout and went an amazing eight rounds with Conor Garland scoring the game winner.
