The Colorado Avalanche aim to stifle their two-game losing streak in New Jersey on Sunday morning against the hot Devils. Their matinee matchup sees them taking on the Metropolitan Division’s first-place squad. Besides losing to the Boston Bruins, the Carolina Hurricanes took them down in an overtime thriller, 5–4, at Ball Arena last Thursday night. It is the team’s first of 12 back-to-back set of games. It also marks the first-of-three consecutive weekends that the Avalanche will tussle in back-to-back road matches.
Colorado Avalanche (5–1–3)
Yesterday, the Avalanche took on the struggling Bruins in Beantown and lost 3–2. Scott Wedgewood, who allowed four goals and left the game against Carolina, had his first regulation loss of the year. Artturi Lehkonen was the only player for the Avalanche to see the back of the net, once again scoring no power play goals. The Avs are done with the Bruins on their schedule. After only nine games, it marks the quickest the team has completed a season series with an opponent since 2018–19. The Bruins have now ended their six-game slide, which leaves goaltender questions for the Avalanche that need to be answered.

New Jersey Devils (7–1–0)
After starting the season getting blown out by the Carolina Hurricanes, the Devils have been on a roll. They have won seven straight games, mostly on the backs of their backup goaltenders. On Friday, the Devils played the San Jose Sharks, who have lost 17 in a row. The special teams played a vital role during the game with all but one goal scored on the power play. William Eklund opened the scoring, and the Devils took it personally. New Jersey answered back with two power play goals and an empty-net goal. Dougie Hamilton will be the one to watch since he had two goals on Friday to seal the Sharks’ fate. The Devils have been on the outside looking in for a while, getting eliminated in the first round last year. They could be a team to look out for in the East this season.
