The Colorado Avalanche will meet the New York Rangers at home on Thursday night. The Avalanche will shoot for their seventh straight win in a row, while the Rangers try to get their feet back on the ground. New York has won all but one of its games on the road, so the challenge could be an interesting one for the Avalanche on Thursday. Fans will not see Joel Kiviranta yet with Tristen Nielsen being recalled from the Colorado Eagles earlier on Thursday morning. He should fit in nicely on the fourth line wing for the Avs.

Colorado Avalanche (13–1–5)

The Colorado Avalanche played the New York Islanders on Sunday for their last game. The Islanders scored first in a 4–1 victory; after that, the Avalanche took control. Colorado had four different goal scorers, including Brock Nelson. He had his second goal in as many games. Martin Necas continued to roll, with his fourth goal in just three games. Brent Burns and Josh Manson showed how physical the team could be in the third period with a hit on Anders Lee. It may have been Colorado’s most complete game so far this season.

New York Rangers (10–9–2)

Lately, the Rangers have been on a strange streak, mostly winning away games. They last played against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night, losing 3–2. New York only got 19 shots on goaltender Akira Schmid as he stopped 17 of them. In a failed late comeback by the Rangers, a late goal by Vincent Trocheck was not enough. The power play for the Golden Knights is what ended up making the difference in the game, as Vegas converted both of their chances. With a struggling power play for the Avalanche, we could see a halfway decent game on Thursday night.
