The Colorado Avalanche will take on the Carolina Hurricanes for the first time this season on Thursday. This game will be a special one, though. This game will be the on-ice debut for the Quebec Nordiques and Hartford Whalers uniforms. The last regular season meeting between the two clubs was the last regular season game for the Nordiques in 1995 (May 3rd). The Hurricanes always lead to a fun game to watch for fans with the two clubs playing a very similar type of game. Expect a fast and offensively loaded game.

Colorado Avalanche (5–0–2)
The Avalanche had a heartbreaking loss against the Utah Mammoth on Wednesday night, ending in an overtime loss. Puck management was the name of the game for the Avalanche as they struggled in the second period and beyond. Gabriel Landeskog almost scored his first regular season goal in three years, but the call was reversed. Head coach Jared Bednar called the reversal because of offsides “a bogus call”. Martin Necas would tie the game with a stellar shot late in the third, but the Avalanche would last 30 seconds into overtime. The Avalanche had only one chance on the power play and once again didn’t convert, making a difference in the game.

Carolina Hurricanes (5–1–0)
The Hurricanes suffered their first defeat of the season on Tuesday against the Vegas Golden Knights. They are without two of their defensemen in Shayne Gostisbehere and Denver native Jaccob Slavin. Without their two puck-moving defensemen, the Hurricanes only netted one goal from Sebastian Aho. The Golden Knights put on the pressure and used every line. Vegas had four different goal scorers to take the victory at home and hold on to first place in the Pacific Division.
