The Colorado Avalanche will take on the Anaheim (mighty) Ducks on Tuesday night at Ball Arena and try to clip their wings. When the schedules were made, the game might not have looked that exciting. Things have changed. Anaheim is second in the Western Conference behind the Avalanche. The Ducks have also won their last seven games. They are also doing it with rookies in the lineup like Beckett Sennecke, who is producing points. So, this game may have become a battle that will bring Avs’ fans back to the early 2000s when both teams were flying high and the games were non-stop action.

Colorado Avalanche (10–1–5)

The Avalanche had a thrilling game to wrap up the Canadian trip over the weekend. In a 5–4 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks, Gavin Brindley scored his third goal of the year. It was the best one yet as he followed his own shot and finished it on his rebound. Both Nathan MacKinnon and Artturi Lehkonen tallied a pair of goals each. The second goal by MacKinnon gave him 381 career goals, good for third in franchise history and passing Peter Stastny. The victory would also be head coach Jared Bednar’s 400th career NHL win, all with the Avalanche of course.

The Ducks played the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night and handed them a 4–1 loss. Anaheim has not been holding back against any opponents this season, with forward Leo Carlsson leading the way. Carlsson currently sits second in points with 25, behind MacKinnon, who has 29. Rookie Beckett Sennecke had two goals against the Jets, giving himself six for the season already. It doesn’t stop there. Goaltender Lukas Dostal added his eighth win of the season, making him second in the league behind Scott Wedgewood. The Ducks may have found their wings, and that could be terrifying.
