The Colorado Avalanche will battle the Winnipeg Jets for the first time since December 19, when the Avs won 3–2. It will also start a stretch where the Avs play the Jets three times in the next 12 days. The Avs, who have won eight of their last 10, look to keep the momentum going against a struggling Winnipeg club. The Jets have not found their wings this season, and it has kept them out of a playoff position so far.
Colorado Avalanche (44–11–9, 97 pts)
After the loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, the Avalanche needed to bounce back with a win. And bounce back they did. Colorado took on the Seattle Kraken on Thursday and won 5–1. It started as a potential playoff matchup, and the Avs proved Seattle doesn’t belong there. In the first period alone, we saw goals from Martin Necas, Nathan MacKinnon, and Nic Roy. The second slipped away from the Avs, managing only four shots on goal. But it would see Nazem Kadri score his first since coming back to the Avs. Joel Kiviranta netted his third of the season in the final frame.

Winnipeg Jets (26–28–10, 62 pts)
The Jets’ season has proved challenging up to this point. Last game they lost to the New York Rangers 6–3. Winnipeg has gone 4–3–3 in their last 10 games, losing the last two games. It is a year that sees them sitting only one point ahead of the last-place Chicago Blackhawks in the Central Division. They trailed the Rangers by three but mounted a furious comeback with three goals. It saw their new acquisition, Isak Rosen, score his first as a Jet. Although they are struggling, games against the Jets have always been a challenge for the Avs.
