Already announced were the regular season openers and the home opener. Colorado will start on the road for one quick road game against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, October 7, at 8:30 p.m. MT.
The home opener will come two days later against a “new” team. The newly-named Utah Mammoth will make its way across the Rocky Mountains to play at Ball Arena for the first time this upcoming season.

Colorado’s longest homestand will come throughout January, playing seven straight games on home ice. It’ll start against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, January 8, and end on Friday, January 23, against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Meanwhile, the Avs never have a road trip longer than four games. They’ll play three four-game stretches from home in early December, late January, and mid-March.
Colorado did get unfortunate scheduling again when it came to back-to-back games. They are scheduled for 12 back-to-backs throughout the season, all of which they’re traveling to and from different arenas and cities.
The @Avalanche 2025-26 schedule includes:
Franchise-record 18 day games, surpassing previous high of 15 in 1998-99
20-day break for 2026 Winter Olympics in February

In terms of playing Central Division rivals, one sticks out in particular. The Dallas Stars pay their first visit to Ball Arena on Saturday, October 11, and again on Wednesday, March 18. Meanwhile, Colorado will go to Dallas on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, April 4, for a 2:00 p.m. MT matinee.
Speaking of matinees, Colorado will feature in 18 day games. The first afternoon game is the fourth game of the year when the Avalanche visit the Buffalo Sabres on Monday, October 13, for Veterans Day at 10:30 a.m. MT.
Colorado’s regular-season finale is also the home finale against the Seattle Kraken on Thursday, April 16, at 8:30 p.m. MT. The Stanley Cup Playoff schedule will come soon afterwards, but has not yet been determined.
Unlike years past with an NHL All-Star Break or Four Nations Faceoff break, NHL players will head to the Olympics in Italy. Several Avalanche players are likely to feature for their countries. Hence, no Avs games will take place between February 5 and February 24.
