Over the last few years, they have appeared on national television more than a dozen times. This year, TNT, ESPN, and ABC will broadcast the Avalanche 17 times. What it means

For some fans, it is always a welcome relief. Nationally televised games were the only way that some fans could view the games. The Comcast and Altitude Entertainment dispute meant that games were not being shown with the biggest provider in the market. Most times, the only way fans could watch their Colorado Avalanche was through nationally televised games. Even then, Altitude had already selected some games to broadcast, which blacked them out and caused more frustration. As of this writing however, there has been no announcement of the Altitude schedule, so it is unclear if this will happen this year.

Either way, the national games expose more fans around the country to the likes of Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon. Even players like Logan O’Connor, who Avalanche fans love and adore, get national exposure. The national media sometimes are never aware of what they are missing out on until they see the Avalanche play in one of these 17 games. And the bigger the fanbase for the Avalanche, the better.
