Roed plays the right way according to previous coaches and is excellent at driving the play. He is great at the faceoff dot, which the Avalanche could always use help with. He plays the game hard and with leadership.

The Minnesota native can push through the zone and drive to the crease despite his five foot eleven inch size. Roed can skate with his head up and through traffic with ease. Roed has shown that he can rotate with his defensemen with no problem. His leadership ability comes into play, as he can draw his entire team into the game. A Family Affair and His Future
Hockey runs in the Roed family. The San Jose Sharks drafted his father Peter 38th overall in 1995. Peter had a successful career playing the ECHL, AHL and in Germany. His brother Lleyton is in the Seattle Kraken organization and currently playing for the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
Roed has committed to attend St. Cloud State University in Minnesota next season. So he will not be coming to the Avalanche for at least a couple of seasons. SCSU has a great program, competing in the NCHC against schools like the University of Denver and Western Michigan. SCSU will be a great school for him to develop his skills at and push himself at against top collegiate talent.
