As a photojournalist, John contributes both images and stories to Mile High Sports. He covers both the Colorado Avalanche and Denver University Pioneer men's hockey team John's 15 years of experience includes documenting Colorado Rapids, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, U.S. Women's and Men's National Soccers Team and NCAA Denver University Athletics match-play for Vox Media, SB Nation, Sports Illustrated, Bucs Nation and Burgundy Wave. He regularly covers the US Olympic Committee Events, MLS playoffs and CONCACAF and FIFA Men's and Women's World Cup Soccer tournaments; in addition to NFL playoffs and Super Bowl games. He will be the lead photographer at the 2026 Transplant Games in America, a celebration of life for transplant donors, recipients, families and friends. In 2025, Babiak underwent a successful heart transplant operation. When not covering sports, he documents red carpet events at international film festivals, awards ceremonies, and the war in Ukraine, He is also a popular mentor to rising visual journalists.
