Oliver Kylington was a bit of a puzzling signing for the Colorado Avalanche over the summer. He joined in early August after leaving the Calgary Flames as a free agent.
With Colorado
He managed to make the opening roster, perhaps surprisingly over Erik Brannstrom, who was later traded and never played for the Avalanche. Kylington didn’t play until a few games into the season, which was a trend that would continue for him this season.
Kylington struggled with injury throughout the year. Hence, he only played in 13 games in an Avalanche jersey. In those 13 games, he only scored once and had three assists.
How about that stretch pass from Oliver Kylington? 🤯

Along with being hurt, he got scratched often. He also did not get sent down to play in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles either.
While his seat was comfy in the press box nightly, he would be on the move. The Avalanche needed some help on both the blue line and in the center depth. Kylington was a cheap, replaceable option for the defense.
With New York/Anaheim
Therefore, he was moved without much hesitation. He moved to the New York Islanders with Cal Ritchie, and a first and third-round pick in the NHL Draft. Colorado got a big return, with Brock Nelson solidifying their 2C spot and another prospect in William Dufour.
Just as quickly as his time on Long Island started, it came to a close. The following day after the Islanders trade, Kylington was flipped across the country to the Anaheim Ducks. His return is still unknown, as it is for future considerations.

He would get six games in at the Honda Center, notching one assist. It came in his final game of the season against his original club, the Calgary Flames. He also finished positively with a +1. Oliver Kylington will be looking for a new team as a free agent once again.
