Jason Polin, who finished his second full season with the Colorado Avalanche organization, had a year riddled with injuries. He played just two games for the Avalanche, registering no points.
The Hobey Baker Finalist saw a ton of improvement even though he played fewer games this season than last season. Polin remained out of the lineup for two separate one month stretches because of injuries. This was part of the reason that Polin saw little time in the NHL with the Avalanche. Both lower-body and upper-body injuries kept him out for all of November. Another broken hand kept him out for the month of February.

Polin nearly tripled his goal production with the Colorado Eagles, scoring 11 goals in just 39 games. He added eight assists to his scorecard throughout the season as well. The Colorado Eagles relied on Polin for more than just scoring goals. He became a big body that head coach Aaron Schneekloth would insert into the lineup to hit the other team. He was a calm presence for a young player, using his leadership skills as captain from college.
“Last year, maybe [I was] a little hesitant with the puck,” Polin said in January. “And this year, just like I said, just trying to play more confidence and trust in the coaches. And [I] just wanted to get back to my game I had in college. I just feel confident out there.”

The heavy forward played everything from the power play and penalty kill to first line to fourth line for the Eagles. He can be an all around utility player that can bring weight to the game with some skill to go with it. If Polin can stay healthy this upcoming season, the Eagles could be looking at a steady top-six forward that can play all over the ice. Opponents will always have to be on the lookout when he is on the ice, because he will come and get you.

The former Western Michigan alum will be a restricted free agent this summer, but he will have arbitration rights. There is a high likelihood that we will see Polin back in an Avalanche or Eagles uniform this fall.
