Goaltender Trent Miner and the Colorado Avalanche have reached a two-year contract extension. Because Alexandar Georgiev struggled and the Avalanche pulled him, Miner made his NHL debut with the Avalanche on November 15, 2024. In his debut against the Washington Capitals, Miner played just over 34 minutes and allowed only one goal in 13 shots.

Miner was an Avalanche draft pick from 2019 (seventh round, 202nd overall) and has worked his way through the system. He played three seasons for the ECHL Utah Grizzlies where he was one of the top performing goalies in the league. The Brandon, Manitoba native, took the Grizzlies to the Kelly Cup playoffs in two out of three years he was there.
The 2023–24 season is when Miner really broke out with the Colorado Eagles. Justus Annunen fell to a long-term injury, leaving the net for the taking. His .930 save percentage in 18 games really stood out to the organization. Miner came out on top of Arvid Holm and Ivan Prosvestov, earning an extension at the end of the season.

This last season there was no question who the starter for the Eagles was going to be. Miner had proved that he could handle the workload and was ready to lead the team. It was the most successful year that the Eagles had since joining the AHL in 2018. Miner was often at the top of the league with his 2.12 goals against average and his .918 save percentage. The Eagles had the best home record in the entire AHL at 26–6–2–2. They would finish the regular season on top of the Western Conference for the first time in franchise history.

Miner has a winning mentality that seeps through to the rest of his team. It showed this last season when he would never give up on plays that most goalies would. Fans are in for treat to have Miner in the crease for another two seasons.
