WINDSOR, Colo.  — The Colorado Eagles have signed forward Maroš Jedlička to a one-year AHL contract for the 2025–26 season.

Jedlička played just 18 games for the Eagles last season before getting injured for the second year in a row. Before the injury, Jedlička had three goals and two assists in Loveland. The Slovakian started last season playing for HC Kometa Brno of the Czech Extraliga, tallying two assists in 12 games.

The Colorado Avalanche lost their rights to sign the 2023 seventh round draft pick on June 1st. So the assumption is that the Eagles signed him to keep him in the organization. This way the Avalanche can keep a close eye on him and re-sign him to a two-way contract if they need to.

Injuries

Injuries have been an issue for the 22-year-old. He had to sit out the entire 2023–24 season because of a shoulder injury. An injury that occurred during an Avalanche preseason game. A March 1 injury sidelined him for the rest of the Eagles’ season. So health could be a concern for the rookie. He has not adapted to the North American game yet, so this fall will be a genuine test for him.

Style of Play

Jedlička has a big body that he is still trying to figure out. In the games that he appeared with the Eagles last season, he did a great job of getting to the front of the net. He used his big frame to block the goaltender and then attempt to pick up the rebounds. The biggest complaint from the coaches was that they wanted him to be a little more physical. He needed to knock the opposition off of the puck more and use his frame to his advantage. The AHL will be the perfect place to learn and grow his game. Jedlička will be exciting to watch for the entire season this year.
